Eastern Europe is still a cultural term. Yes there are outliers but it is Slavic-dominated Europe. Greece and Georgia are also included by virtue of their Orthodox faith. This does not match perfectly the order between the Western world and what is out of it, this border would be the line between Catholic/Protestant Europe and Orthodox Europe. Croatia and Slovakia are Western countries unlike Greece, Romania or Belarus.

With the ongoing war, and especially varying response to it in Europe, I think the term is not going to go away any time soon, but maybe gain a new meaning. Also a lot will depend on the outcome of it which is still very much not certain.

NATO will end in 10 years. The US lies about providing aid/ assistance and will NEVER admit Ukraine into NATO. Nobody wants armed conflict with Russia. When things get tough, America will desert you. I am a Pole and I don't know much about Polish literature because I group up in an immigrant family in the UK. Anyway, I'm pretty sure vampires aren't Polish but possibly Croatian/Serbian in origin as the word "vampire" according to wikitionary comes from the Serbo-Croatian language while Polish does have a cognate word "upiór" nowadays it just a generic word for a ghost-type monster used in Polish translations of stuff like Scooby-Doo and vampires in Polish are just called "wampir" a borrowing from English which English borrowed it from Serbo-Croatian according to wiktionary.

At last year's summer i visited Krakow in Poland. What i found was the cleanest city i ever seen in my life. You could drop your icecream on the pavement and pick iy up and eat it it would not be dirty. To say i am superimpressed with Poland is an understatement. Same thing with Tallinn in Estonia.
